Shinsegae Duty Free steps up premium push with Incheon launch of House of Suntory’s Toki whisky

SOUTH KOREA. Shinsegae Duty Free is introducing the House of Suntory’s Toki whisky at Incheon International Airport this month.

Toki – crafted by House of Suntory fifth-generation Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo – is a blend of spirits from House of Suntory’s three major distilleries: Hakushu, Yamazaki and Chita. The result is a “well-balanced, distinctive blend with a slightly sweet, lingering spicy finish”, the retailer said.

Toki, meaning ‘time’ in Japanese, combines House of Suntory’s tradition with a modern sensibility. It represents the philosophy of harmonising the past and present through whisky.

Shinsegae Duty Free said it is enhancing its liquor line-up in accordance with a growing consumer trend towards premiumisation.

In July, the retailer launched an exclusive limited-edition collaboration with Giwon – South Korea’s first single malt whisky brand – at Incheon Airport. The company also introduced the special-edition Hallasan Soju from the renowned Jeju house and became the first duty-free store to feature the brand’s Hoboksul and Hallasan 1950.

Additionally, Shinsegage Duty Free established the industry’s first K Makgeolli (a highly distinctive milky Korean rice wine -Ed) zone at Incheon Airport Terminal 1.

A Shinsegae Duty Free representative stated: “The introduction of House of Suntory’s Toki whisky will further strengthen our liquor brand line-up and expand our presence in the global liquor market.

“We hope that both domestic and international consumers will experience the exquisite blending artistry rooted in House of Suntory’s philosophy.

“Moving forward, Shinsegae Duty Free will continue to swiftly introduce diverse and new premium spirits from around the world.” ✈️
