Silhouette unveils new sunglasses collection and Adidas eyewear

Last month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes served as the launchpad for the Austrian eyewear company Silhouette’s latest collection, Silhouette Sun 2014 – Relax Your Eyes, which will be available to consumers worldwide from December.

The latest collection, which features the brand’s signature ultra-lightweight frames and lenses, was well received by Cannes attendees, according to the company.

The new Silhouette Sun 2014 – Relax Your Eyes collection will be available at select airports and inflight points of sale worldwide from December

Crafted in Europe, some of the Silhouette sunglasses feature the 12-layer polarised technology, which is said to provide enhanced contrast and eliminate distortion.

Designed by Roland Keplinger, Silhouette Allure is a throwback to the eyewear of the 1970s with dynamic temples, an expressive top bar that wraps itself around the lens, refined matte-gloss effects and partially mirrored lenses.

Also designed by Keplinger, the Silhouette Explorer combines minimalistic design with modern technology. Consumers can choose from seven clear metallic colours with the option of fully-mirrored lenses, available in either classic pilot or square shape.

Titan Minimal Art and Titan Minimal Art Must are said to be ideal for those seeking optimal protection with minimalistic design, while the Adventurer series features the classic pilot shape and is available in sizes for men and women.

The Adventurer series sports a new look with a snap hinge and a printed line on the temple décor . The sunglasses are available with round lenses or with a silver mirror lens combined with black metallic components. The men’s models, meanwhile, feature Carré lens shapes.

Silhouette Trophy offers a lightweight, sporty wrap-around style for both men and women. The latest addition to the line features a new colour combination of green lenses with matte black temples and an orange printed line.

The Sun 2014 collection also includes two new shades of sunglasses lenses – blue-green Glossy Teal and red-violet Glossy Purple – with an ultra-thin ‘flash mirror’ silver coating. Available from December, the new collection features eight design lines with up to three models in a variety of colours, giving consumers 88 different shades to choose from.

Silhouette sunglasses are available on major airlines including Hainan Air, China Southern, Cathay Pacific, Air France, Dragonair, KLM, South African Airways, Etihad, Czech Airlines, Alitalia, Middle East Airlines, Air Liban and Austrian Airlines. The products are also available on some smaller airlines.

The collection will also be available at select airports in Zürich, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Sochi, Saint Petersburg (Pulkovo), Moscow, Portugal, the Maldives and the UAE (Dubai and Qatar) as well as smaller airports in South America (Monalisa, Weston Intertrade) and South Africa (Africasie).

Silhouette’s new Adidas models come in a variety of styles for men and women or unisex

Silhouette also launched four new Adidas models – Daroga (unisex), Kumacross (men), Liberia (women) and Tycane, which are now available in travel retail.

Daroga, Kumacross and Liberia models are made from SPX material, which is said to be temperature resistant, flexible and light. All three models are available in a wide selection of colours and feature 100% UV protection.

The Tycane sports eyewear models are made with hydrophobic filter technology which is said to provide a wide field of vision and offer maximum protection for the eyes in all weather. The lenses feature LST filter technology to filter out dangerous light waves of up to 400 nanometers.

Adidas eyewear’s main inflight partners include: Asiana, ANA All Nippon Airways, Aer Lingus, Thomas Cook, British Airways, KLM, Air China, Hainan Air and Edelweiss.
