UK. Sim Local – the largest seller of SIM cards in the UK travel market – has today opened a new open plan retail store at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. It is the company’s fifth opening at the airport, and its first in a departures zone.
The new store – located after security at T5B – will serve outbound passengers with SIM card products aimed at avoiding roaming charges while abroad.
Travellers can purchase local SIM cards offering mobile data plans from Three, Lycamobile, AT&T and T-Mobile. A range of accessories from Panzer Glass and Skross is also on offer.
Sim Local – which works with affiliate networks across 54 countries – has previously opened four stores at Heathrow, located in arrivals across Terminals 2, 3 and 5, as well as the London Underground walkway. The retailer also has a network of SIM card vending machines in all terminals at the airport.
Sim Local Chief Operating Officer Andrew McClellan said: “We are thrilled to be launching a brand-new store at Heathrow Terminal 5 to cater to travellers who are flying internationally. This store is our fifth at Heathrow, cementing our strong retail presence here and paving the way for future expansion both domestically and abroad.”
Heathrow Retail and Property Director Fraser Brown said: “As the UK’s front door, we are delighted to welcome long-standing partner Sim Local’s brand-new store into Terminal 5 as international travel recommences.
“Heathrow strives to provide the best passenger experience in the world and this opening will be a great addition for our outbound passengers, who will be able to stay connected to their loved ones at a lower cost whilst abroad.”
A major interview with Heathrow retail leader Fraser Brown will appear on The Moodie Davitt Report website later this week.
