SK-II Stempower Essence makes global debut at Changi Airport

Leading prestige skincare brand SK-II has launched its new Stempower Essence at Changi Airport, with Nuance-Watson (Singapore)’s Perfumes & Cosmetics stores being the first in the world to debut the anti-aging product.

Formulated with the new Stem-Acanax ES Complex featuring Stem-Acanax, Pitera, Artichoke Extract and the new Kinren Extract, Stempower Essence is the latest addition to the SK-II Stempower range of anti-ageing innovations.

The exclusive global launch – the fifth first-in-world collaboration between the three partners – took place on 5 July at Changi Airport Terminal 1 and was attended by over 50 guests. These included representatives from Changi Airport Group, Nuance-Watson (Singapore) and SK-II, some of Singapore’s top supermodels, as well as the media (The Moodie Report was the sole representative from the travel retail press).

“Is age just a number or a destiny you can control?” That’s the million-dollar question that SK-II wants to address with the launch of its latest anti-ageing innovation – Stempower Essence

The event kicked off with the unveiling of the new product via a video on “˜The Social Tree’, the nine-metre tall interactive installation in Terminal 1’s Central Piazza.

Initially created as a platform for travellers to share their digital memories at the airport, it was used this time to promote the Stempower Essence, which was displayed on all eight touch-screen photo booths and the 64 giant 42-inch high-definition screens on the crown of the structure. SK-II is the first brand to be featured on this scale on The Social Tree.

“Creating a heritage of “˜firsts’ has always been a part of SK-II’s DNA as we continue to push the envelope to shape the future of women’s skin with revolutionary anti-ageing technologies, breakthrough studies and “˜first-in-the-world’ discoveries,” said SK-II Global Marketing Director Seth Sandeep, who highlighted the launch of the brand’s Signs and Skin Signature ranges back when the anti-ageing trend started to gain traction.

SK-II’s pioneering research on epidermal root cells marked another milestone in the brand’s recent history, resulting in the discovery of a plant-derived ingredient – Stem-Acanax – taken from the root of Siberian Ginseng. SK-II then combined its signature ingredient Pitera and Stem-Acanax to create the SK-II Stem-Acanax Complex, which has proven efficacious in stimulating epidermal root cells to restore the skin’s radical firmness. This complex forms the foundation of the Stempower range, which currently includes Stempower, Stempower Rich Cream and Stempower Cream Compact Foundation.

“The new Stempower Essence is a game-changer in the anti-ageing category and we are excited to partner Changi Airport Group and Nuance-Watson (Singapore) to unveil this innovation today,” Sandeep added.

Driven by the “˜Age Does Not Matter’ philosophy, Stempower Essence is said to boost skin’s inner resilience, resulting in immediate improvement in skin texture and immediate reduction of visible pores. In just two weeks, users will see “poreless-looking, bouncy skin”. When used together with SK-II Stempower, the two products are able to provide almost +200% increase in penetration of skin active ingredients and almost +200% increase in skin’s hydration levels as compared to using Stempower alone.

The launch event continued on the “˜Age Does Not Matter’ theme with a fashion show featuring some of Singapore’s top supermodels, who modelled clothes by home-grown fashion label Love Bonito and new collections from leading luggage brand Samsonite.

Models from the runway show were then invited for a beauty panel discussion, where they shared their personal concerns on ageing and their insights on why “˜Age Does Not Matter’. SK-II Beauty Trainer Cindy Cheong rounded up the session by illustrating how Stempower Essence can fit into the SK-II skincare routine and how to apply the new product in a step-by-step demonstration.

Commenting on the new launch, Nuance-Watson (Singapore) Managing Director Ken Tse said: “As it has always been our steadfast aim to be the launch pad in Asia Pacific for new and must-have beauty brands, we are delighted to be working with SK-II again to be the first in the world to launch the new SK-II Stempower Essence.

The SK-II Stempower Essence 30ml and 50ml will retail at S$124 (US$96.60) and S$179 (US$139.50) respectively from all Perfumes & Cosmetics stores located at Changi Airport from July 2013.

Travellers will also get to enjoy a customised skin counselling service from 1 to 31 July 2013 with product recommendation from SK-II beauty consultants when they shop at Perfumes & Cosmetics Departure stores at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Passengers shopping during this period will receive a seven-piece gift set with purchase of S$590 (US$460) worth of SK-II products (excluding sets). A complimentary Facial Treatment Mask will also be given away with every purchase of a 50ml bottle of the new SK-II Stempower Essence.
