Smashbox Cosmetics gives the nod to Mod – 24/08/06

US. Smashbox Cosmetics has gone back to the future for its Holiday 2006 Collection, called Mod Chic. The line combines the glamour of the 1960s with the sexy sophistication of the noughties to create a look that is flirty, lively and ultra-chic, according to Smashbox.

To further underline the theme, all the Mod Chic products are packaged in either black, white or an eye-catching houndstooth check – one of the signature patterns of the swinging 60s.

The collection includes a Mini Lip & Eye Palette, priced domestically at US$25. This contains two lip glosses, four eye shadows and a double-ended liner/shadow brush, all presented in a black case, packaged in a houndstooth outer carton.

Also new for lips is the Totally Fab Lip Gloss Collection (US$35) and a Photo Finish Lipstick in Pale Pout (US$22).

The former comprises four new shimmering lip gloss shades, packaged in a durable black case. The outer packaging is once again a black and white houndstooth design.

The latter is a semi-sheer nude lipstick, said to deliver the same flawless appearance to the lips as Smashbox’s signature Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

The Beauty A-Go-Go Color Palette & Brush Kit (US$50) is said to contain everything needed for the holiday season, namely eight eye shadows, four lip glosses, two highlighters and two mini-brushes. These are housed in a black-and-white bag.

Also new on the applicator front is the Brush Boutique Deluxe Tool Collection (US$85). This is a compilation of seven make-up brushes, each sporting a black and white houndstooth handle. The collection comes complete with a Smashbox Tips and Tricks guide. The items are packaged in a black-and-white bag.

The complete the look, Mod Chic also includes false eyelashes – the Maxi Eyes Lash + Glue Kit (US$12); a new design Arced Liner Brush (US$22); and Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Midnight Black (US$22).
