US. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has unveiled The Bridge News and Convenience travel essentials store, a collaborative project with R.S. Harris and Gideon Toal Management Services (GTMS).
Located in Terminal A, the 800sq ft one-stop-shop offers travel essentials, souvenirs, grab-and-go snacks, personal care items and locally made memorabilia.
As reported, this social entrepreneurship programme supports local non-profit homelessness service providers The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center in Dallas and Presbyterian Night Shelter’s Upspire in Fort Worth.
The licensing fee for the use of The Bridge brand will fund the homeless recovery support network in Dallas.
Throughout the seven-year contract, 5% of the store’s revenue will be donated to The Bridge. That is expected to bring in approximately US$200,000 for the charity annually through the contract period.
To help individuals facing barriers to employment, the store hires members of the Upspire workforce programme.
In a social media post, the airport company said: “DFW Airport is so excited to be a part of this wonderful new partnership and to see the impact it can have in our local communities.” ✈
