Southwest Airlines partners with Most to deliver inflight retail solutions

Most’s inflight retail solutions are designed to enhance the passenger experience

USA. Southwest Airlines has entered into a partnership with payment solutions company Most to develop its inflight retail and payment systems.

The new technology will deliver innovative solutions including onboard product management, customised payment hardware and efficient payment processing.

Most’s modular application architecture simplifies the retail process, the company noted. Integration of a digital shopping cart, payment processing and onboard product management can easily be operated through its ecosystem.

Most CEO Jan Blanchard said: “Deploying a solution at the scale of Southwest Airlines and at a rapid pace was a huge accomplishment for our team. Adopting the Most solution makes for smoother exchanges between the airline’s flight attendants and customers.”

Southwest Airlines Senior Manager for Inflight Mobility Ron Freer added: “As we reimagine our inflight retail process, we needed a solution that eased workloads and improved our data collection, while reducing the time to handle each passenger transaction.

“Most’s agile development process and rapid iterations allowed us to continuously revise the application, ensuring a successful deployment on a very aggressive timeline.”

Through Most’s inflight retail solutions, passengers can make onboard purchases using Apple Pay or Google Pay, or via their credit or debit card through tap pay, smart chip, or swipe pay

On the hardware front, the most.Onthego solution combines an iPad Mini 6 with a dedicated payment device in an ergonomic package with a single point of charge.

Credit or debit card transactions can be processed via NFC/Contactless tap (including Apple and Google Pay), Smart Chip, or swipe.

The most.Pay payment gateway also handles and authorises onboard transactions even without an internet connection.

The most.Retail connected management architecture also enables data analytics to be transmitted in near real-time to back-office systems. ✈
