TUNISIA. A special event has been staged to celebrate the tenth anniversary of TAV Airports-operated Enfidha–Hammamet International Airport.

Guests at the ceremony included the Tunisia Minister of Tourism & Handicrafts and Interim Minister of Transport Rene Trabelsi, Sousse Governor Adel Chlioui and TAV Tunisie President Director General Guclu Batkin. Other public sector officials and airport employees and stakeholders were also in attendance.
A key tourism travel hub, the airport – which is located about 40km southwest of the Tunisian town of Hammamet – is mostly used by European airlines carrying travellers to Tunisian holiday resorts.
“TAV Airports came to Tunisia with a huge investment at a time where the global economy was going through a severe financial crisis and all international investors were delaying their projects.” – TAV Tunisie President Director General Guclu Batkin
Reflecting on the impact of the airport, Guclu Batkin said: “This happy occasion gives us the opportunity to look back on the history of our venture and to project ourselves into the future to perceive all that Enfidha Airport can bring to Tunisia’s tourism and transport sectors in the decades to come.
“In 2007, TAV Airports came to Tunisia with a huge investment at a time where the global economy was going through a severe financial crisis and all international investors were delaying their projects. We were confident in Tunisia’s socio-economic prospects and in the ingenuity of the Tunisian people.”

He added: “We are now delighted to realise that we successfully met the challenge and our celebration today cannot be passed without acknowledging all who helped and contributed across the past decade.”
TAV Airports, which is 46.1%-owned by Groupe ADP and has a global footprint across 28 countries, operates both Enfidha-Hammamet and Monastir Habib Bourguiba airports in Tunisia. In the first 11 months of 2019, the two airports served more than 3 million passengers, a +24% increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
