USA. SSP America has been awarded an eight-year contract by LaGuardia Gateway Partners to run three food & beverage outlets at New York LaGuardia Airport Terminal B.
The new restaurants will cover around 3,691sq ft in the east concourse and will open this autumn in conjunction with the first gates at the new Terminal B. SSP America’s line-up includes Irving Farm Coffee Roasters, Kingside and Five Boroughs Food Emporium (see below).
LaGuardia Gateway Partners were appointed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to oversee the design, construction, management and operation of the facility. The new 35-gate Terminal B will replace the existing Central Terminal Building.

SSP America’s new contract, with its ACDBE partners, is part of a wider modernisation and redevelopment program. The US$5.1 billion, 1.3-million sq ft redevelopment project is one of the largest public-private partnerships in US history and the largest ever in its aviation business.
SSP America Executive Vice President Pat Murray said: “The redevelopment of one of the country’s most renowned airports is a significant moment in American aviation history, heralding one of the largest public-private partnership projects ever undertaken for a new transportation infrastructure in the United States. SSP America recognises the magnitude of this momentous project, and is honoured to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as LaGuardia Gateway Partners in this significant project.”
“Providing the best guest experience to the more than 15 million annual guests at LaGuardia is at the core of our mission at LaGuardia Gateway Partners, and that starts with the food and beverages available in the new Terminal B,” said LaGuardia Gateway Partners Chief Commercial Officer Ed Baklor. “Our new partnership with SSP America will deliver first-class amenities worthy of the greatest city in the world, featuring exciting local products and brands.”
As noted above, the SSP portfolio will feature Irving Farm Coffee Roasters, part of the New York coffee scene since 1996. Owners Stephen Leven and David Elwell source beans from direct relationships with small batch micro growers across the world. These are then roasted on their Hudson Valley farm and then ground, poured, pulled or pressed to order.
Kingside bar & restaurant offers fresh, locally sourced ingredients on its menu along with a strong cocktail range. The food includes small plates while the bar features regionally brewed craft beers, international wines and small-batch spirits.
Five Boroughs Food Emporium has been designed for the New Terminal B location, said SSP, which has partnered with locally based, speciality food suppliers to create a market offering New York flavours. It houses multiple grab-and-go options with quick bites, artisanal sandwiches and deli plates available.
