SWEDEN. Travel food & beverage specialist SSP is opening two new Starbucks coffee stores at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The first, located in Terminal 2, will begin trading on 26 March. The new opening is part of a major redevelopment of the terminal by airport operator Swedavia, which will see all retail units refurbished or replaced.
The second, scheduled to open on 22 April, will be located at the airport’s new SkyBridge, between the domestic Terminal 4 and international Terminal 5. This area is open to both the general public as well as passengers, which will make the store the first Starbucks in Stockholm that can be used by non-travellers.
Roel Huinink, Managing Director of Arlanda Schiphol Development Company, responsible for commercial services at Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg Landvetter airports said: “Our aim is to create an inspiring environment where passengers can relax before their flight. The first Starbucks in Sweden opened at Arlanda Terminal 5 in 2010, and since that time, our customers have really enjoyed the Starbucks brand.
“Our new Starbucks at Terminal 2 and SkyBridge will give both passengers and visitors more great opportunities to enjoy the Starbucks experience.”
Starbucks Coffee EMEA BV Director of Licensed Stores Arjan Oudejans added: “We’ve been delighted with the response from our Swedish customers. They are real coffee lovers and have embraced our brand with genuine passion. It is part of our brand vision to be where our customers want us; at work, at home and when travelling.”
SSP currently operates three Starbucks stores in Sweden – one at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, one at Göteborg Central Station and a third at Malmö Central Station.
