Changi Airport Group Head of Airside Concessions Chandra Mahtani commented: “We are excited to unveil this House of Suntory flagship activation at Changi Airport Terminal 1, in partnership with Suntory Global Spirits and Lotte Duty Free Singapore.

The debut 2024 Kogei Collection Japanese Kimono Edition was created in collaboration with the Chiso Kimono House, which has been crafting fine Japanese kimonos since 1555. The Chiso patterns feature prominently at the Changi animation.

“Not only does this immersive experience invite visitors to better appreciate the story behind the crafting of each spirit, but it presents a special opportunity to purchase limited-edition bottles, complemented by bespoke gifting options.”

Lotte Duty Free Singapore Managing Director Jeff Jeong Soongyu added: “Lotte’s customers are always looking for innovation, and we know this new collection will have huge appeal, fuelled by the rise in demand for high-end Japanese whisky.

The Tsukuriwake 2024 Series

The 2024 Tsukuriwake Series by The House of Suntory presents a distinctive exploration of Japanese whisky craftsmanship. Each expression in this series is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, offering a refined tasting experience.

The art of Tsukuriwake translates to ‘artisanship through a diversity of making’. This ethos transcends the mere diversification of cask maturation and incorporates whisky-making elements with a focus on ingredient selection, peat and cask choice, driven by the values of harmony, craftsmanship and authentic cultural experience.

The House of Suntory continues to push the boundaries of the category with its 2024 Tsukuriwake Series, comprising Yamazaki Golden Promise, Yamazaki Islay Peated Malt, Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt and Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara expressions

The Yamazaki Golden Promise is crafted from golden promise barley, a grain cultivated in Scotland during the 1960s. Distilled in Japan since 2009 and aged in American Oak casks, this whisky has a maltier, richer profile. On the nose, it presents notes of orange marmalade and custard. The whisky has a sweet and lingering finish with a deep and rounded flavour profile.

The Yamazaki Islay Peated Malt is made with Islay peat, which boasts a softer and sweeter mouthfeel compared to Scotland’s mainland peat. The water and maturation process at the Yamazaki distillery contribute to a balanced sweetness that complements the smoky undertones of the whisky. It offers flavours of brown sugar and bitter orange citrus, finishing with a warm, smoky note.

This limited-edition Yamazaki 18 Year Old Mizunara highlights The House of Suntory’s mastery of Mizunara Oak. Mizunara is known for its spiciness and incense-like sandalwood and aloe wood aromas. The whisky reveals subtly spiced orange notes, culminating in a lingering finish with hints of clove and dried coconut.

The Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt was made with an extended maturation in Hakushu, revealing a smokiness with spicy, peppery notes on the nose. The palate deepens to reveal herbaceous minerals and ripe apple undertones, creating a complex yet refreshing profile. ✈
