ASIA. Suredj Autar, the highly regarded Managing Director of HMSHost Asia, is leaving the company to take up a new challenge in the airport sector early next year.

Before joining the Autogrill subsidiary in late 2006 Autar (pictured) spent five years as Director of Consumer Products and Concessions at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, leading the retail, advertising, parking and general concessions business units.

At HMSHost he created a new Asian operation, based in Singapore. He is widely respected as one of the most dynamic and personable executives in the airport commercial sector, one with knowledge and understanding of both airport company and concessionaire issues.

In a note to colleagues and friends in the business he wrote: “My two-year tenure at HMSHost Asia Pacific has been the most rewarding period of my career.”

He added: “I am happy that in the last two years we had made progress in bringing our strategic vision of expansion to life with development into India and Singapore.

“It’s been an extraordinary year here at HMSHost for all of us. I am really proud of all the achievements, determination and resilience of all our associates around the region who are so committed to giving their best.”

No successor has yet been named.
