Suunto styles first outdoor watch for women – 19/07/07

FINLAND. Suunto, the outdoor wrist-top computer maker, has designed its first outdoor watch for women.

The dual-time Suunto Lumi watch combines advanced ABC (altimeter, barometer, and compass) functions with new benefits including sunrise and sunset times, personal day counter, an easy-to-use interface, and a menu in four languages.

Available in Fall 2007, the Suunto Lumi works both as an outdoor instrument and as a daily timepiece and can also be customised with accessories, according to the Finnish supplier.

Straps in different colours and patterns are available. With the carabiner jacket, Suunto Lumi is said to be protected against rough handling and can be attached anywhere. With the pendant, Suunto Lumi transforms into a stylish timepiece, Suunto said.

Said Anna Markelin, Product Manager for Suunto Lumi: “The Suunto Lumi is a true innovation. It is the first outdoor instrument specifically made for women and also designed by women.”

The Suunto Lumi features an adjustable day counter to or from a personal event, such as a deadline or a friend’s birthday, as well as daily sunrise and sunset times. Programmable for specific regions and cities, the sunrise and sunset times can help the user arrive at a destination before nightfall or assess remaining daylight.

Rugged and stylish: The new Suunto Lumi is the first wrist-top computer designed by women for women. The dual-time watch combines advanced ABC (altimeter, barometer and compass) functions with sunrise and sunset times, personal day counter and a menu in four languages

NEW SUUNTO CORE WATCH

In a separate product development, the new Suunto Core wrist-top computer is described as “the ultimate instrument for any adrenaline-packed outdoor activity”.

Available in Fall 2007, it combines advanced ABC (altimeter, barometer, and compass) functions with new benefits such as a depth meter, sunrise and sunset times, a renewed user interface, and a menu in four languages.

Offered in a selection of styles, from urban to outdoors, the Suunto Core is designed for the hardcore outdoor enthusiast, with daily functions including dual time, countdown timer, and comprehensive sports chronograph.

Accurate to 32,760 feet (10,000 meters), the altimeter in the Suunto Core displays current elevation, shows elevation gained and lost, and records sessions for review.

Like a wrist-mounted weather station, the Suunto Core barometer measures air pressure and displays graphic weather trends to help users predict changing conditions. Activated by a rapid drop in air pressure over a three-hour period, a Storm Alarm sounds and flashes, letting the user know that foul weather is approaching.

Active and outdoorsy: The new Suunto Core comes in a selection of styles, from urban to outdoors, and can even tell you about the weather. Other daily functions include dual time, countdown timer and comprehensive sports chronograph
