A 2,000sq m extension has enhanced the passenger areas at Stockhom Arlanda |
SWEDEN. Swedish state airport authority Swedavia has inaugurated its new Terminal 2 following a renovation that includes a 2,000sq m expansion and a new retail line-up. The authority will have invested SEK400 million (US$60.5 million) in the project by the time it opens a new baggage sorting facility in 2015.
Swedavia said the new terminal “resembles a modern city airport, with speedy, smooth flows”; it takes no more than 15 minutes to get from the train, bus or car to the gate.
“We are pleased that Terminal 2 now helps to enhance the overall impression of the airport,” said Stockholm Arlanda Airport Director Kjell-Ã…ke Westin.
Among the commercial highlights are a new brasserie, Himmel och Hav, and an Italian café and restaurant concept from Lavazza, across two levels. Retail outlets in the new terminal include Capi The Travellers Electronics Company, World of Toys, New Deli featuring Swedish specialities, and a bigger duty-free shop which also sells Swedish design.

“We have high ambitions when it comes to meeting our customers’ needs and aspirations, and Stockholm Arlanda’s new Terminal 2 is a clear demonstration of this ambition,” added Swedavia Chief Executvie Torborg Chetkovich.
“The airlines are expanding, and with the new Terminal 2 we are strengthening Stockholm Arlanda’s capacity. As a result, we contribute to access to Sweden and the entire region, which is crucial for the country’s competitiveness and growth.”
Stockholm Arlanda’s Terminal 2 was inaugurated in 1990 and was used at that time as the domestic terminal. The refurbished terminal will be used by several international airlines, including British Airways, KLM, Air France and Finnair.
