Swedish airports post mixed January numbers

SWEDEN. International passengers from Stockholm Arlanda airport rose + 2.4% in January on the same month last year while charter flight traffic decreased by -13%. Total passenger traffic, including domestic fell -3.9%. For 2002, the number of international passengers using Luftsfartverket (Swedish Civil Aviation Administration) airports fell -8% to 14.3 million.

The total number of passengers travelling to and from Arlanda airport was 16.5 million, a reduction of -9%. Gothenburg Landvetter, Sweden’s second largest airport, reported a reduction of -6% in passenger numbers. A total of 3.9 million passengers travelled through Landvetter, while Sturup, Sweden’s number three airport had a total of 1.9 million passengers in 2002, a decrease of -7%. Sturup is Sweden’s third largest airport. Stockholm-Bromma airport was the only Swedish airport to show any passenger growth in 2002, with numbers rising +6% to over 1 million.
