Swiss airports post robust passenger growth in 2007 – 19/02/08

Switzerland’s airports posted an +8% rise in passenger numbers in 2007


SWITZERLAND. The seven main airports in Switzerland welcomed 36.07 million passengers between them in 2007, an increase of +8% on the previous year. Zürich and Geneva airports handled 31.5 million passengers within the total figure.

The highest rate of increase came at Geneva International Airport, which reported a +9% increase to 10.73 million passengers, according to numbers released by the Federal Office of Statistics (OFS).

Zürich Kloten Airport reported a +7% rise to 20.72 million while Basel Mulhouse enjoyed a 6% increase to 4.24 million passengers.

Among the smaller airports Lugano Agno reported +1% growth, while the other airports included in the statistics were St Gall Altenrhein (+1%); Berne Belp (+10%) and Sion (+12%).
