“Sydney Airport will soon boast the largest concentration of luxury retailers of any airport in Australia” – Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Glyn Williams

AUSTRALIA. Italian luxury brand Gucci will join Sydney Airport’s newly transformed Terminal 1 International fashion precinct in early 2017 – an Australian airport first.

Gucci will be one of a premium collection of 13 new brands at the New South Wales gateway, including Tiffany & Co, Kate Spade New York, Burberry, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Tumi, Emporio Armani and Hugo Boss.

The store will house Gucci’s handbag range plus other leathergoods, travel accessories, women’s and men’s fashion, timepieces and fine jewellery.

The 147sq m store interior will be embellished with rosewood, marble and warm polished metals to create what Sydney Airport called “a luxurious and contemporary backdrop” for the collections. The exterior will boast a striking double-height eight-metre façade.

The airport operator claimed that T1 will soon be one of Sydney’s leading fashion destinations, offering an international retail mix that delivers more choice and value to customers. Gucci is part a wider improvement programme designed to create a world-class consumer experience, it noted.

“Gucci is one of the world’s most respected luxury brands and we are thrilled to announce it will call Sydney Airport home next year,” said Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Glyn Williams. “Sydney Airport will soon boast the largest concentration of luxury retailers of any airport in Australia and we are very excited to offer our international passengers a truly exceptional shopping experience.”
