Sydney Airport and Delaware North serve up another diverse dietary offer at revamped Terminal 1– 16/09/08

AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport today announced another award in what it described as the “highly competitive” Food & Beverage category following receipt of proposals from the market as part of its major redevelopment of the Sydney International Terminal (T1).

Jyona Beli, a “unique and tasty” Nepalese concept, will take its place in the landside departures food court in T1’s new shopping precinct.

Submissions were received from both Australian and international food retailers, the airport company said.

Jyona (meaning lunch) Beli (dinner) was selected for its excellence and the point of difference with which it complements the newly positioned and enhanced T1 food & beverage offer..

Jyona Beli will be delivered by Delaware North (www.delawarenorth.com), one of the world’s leading hospitality and food & beverage providers. Jyona Beli, Delaware North’s first Sydney Airport venture, is due to open in December 2008.

The first three outlets of the new, expanded food court, Sumo Salad, Café Viaggo and Oporto, are already operational along with two temporary food offers.

A further two units will open before Christmas 2008 followed by an additional 10 outlets which will open between March and September 2009, completing an expansive food court comprising 15 outlets.

The expansion of the food court and the diversity in its offering comprises an integral component of the airport company’s vision to offer a much expanded, world-class shopping complex. Currently undergoing a major A$500 million (US$394 million at current exchange rates) redevelopment, the International Terminal will feature over 140 stores.

Sydney’s International Terminal is Australia’s gateway, handling more than 10 million passengers in 2007. These numbers are expected to grow strongly over the next 20 years.
