Sydney Airport calls for jewellery proposals; more big retail opportunities imminent – 27/06/08

AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport is calling for proposals for two new jewellery sites in the soon to be redeveloped Sydney International Terminal, Terminal 1.

The jewellery Requests for Proposal (RFPs) are the first in an extensive range of categories that will be taken to the market by Sydney Airport over the next few months.

Soon to be released categories include Luxury Fashion, Lifestyle, Food & Beverage, Fashion Accessories and Sport with Fast Food and Luxury Fashion due for release in the week beginning 30 June.

The two jewellery concepts presently being sought are for Opal Jewellery and Casual Artisan Jewellery.

“The RFPs provide an extraordinary opportunity for retailers to participate in the next exciting phase of the airport’s retail evolution,” says the airport company

Sydney Airport, recently voted Best Airport in the Australia Pacific Region*, handled more than 10 million passengers in Terminal 1 in 2007 and was rated by The Airport Retail Study 2006/07** [acquired by The Moodie Report in 2007] as one of the highest-performing airport retail precincts in the world.

Sydney Airport commented: “The release of the RFPs provides an extraordinary opportunity for retailers to participate in the next exciting phase of the airport’s retail evolution.

“As Australia’s major gateway, Sydney Airport is currently undergoing a major A$500 million redevelopment to be completed in 2010. The International Terminal will offer a much expanded, world-class shopping complex, with over 140 stores providing an exciting mix of local and international brands reflecting the scale and diversity of this vast audience.”

Retailers will also benefit from Sydney Airport’s new shopping website – www.sydneyairportshopping.com.au – providing retailers with ongoing opportunities to promote their products and upcoming promotions [Note: The website was assessed in The Moodie Report’s popular Website of the Week review this week, gaining a very high rating).

The closing date for submissions for the Jewellery RFPs is 3:00pm AEST 18 July 2008. For further information please contact:
