Sydney Airport & Mercedes-Benz gear up for new luxury automotive retail concept – 30/06/05

AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport Corporation and luxury importer Mercedes-Benz have joined forces to create a ground-breaking new retail concept at Sydney Airport.

Working closely with the airport company, Mercedes will extend its customer service philosophy with a new Mercedes-Benz Airport Express concept.

The company has entered into long-term lease agreements with the airport for the development of a purpose-built Mercedes-Benz sales and service facility located within the airport precinct.

The new Airport Express location will be developed in line with existing Mercedes-Benz international Autohaus design guidelines and requirements.

Max Moore-Wilton, CEO & Executive Chairman of Sydney Airport Corporation said the partnership with Mercedes was an innovative way of offering Sydney Airport’s customers more choice and a superior service.

“Each year the airport welcomes over 27 million passengers, all with a variety of tastes and needs. Mercedes’ offering will mean more satisfied customers at Australia’s busiest airport,” Moore-Wilton said.

“With many luxury car owners travelling more often for business and pleasure, the time is ripe for a retail concept like Mercedes-Benz Airport Express,” said Horst von Sanden, Managing Director of the Mercedes Car Group in Australia.

“With Mercedes-Benz Airport Express we aim to set a new benchmark in customer service excellence in the luxury car market. Sydney Airport Corporation is as excited as we are about this new retail concept and we look forward to continuing our close cooperation into the future,” said von Sanden.

Mercedes-Benz Airport Express is due to open at Sydney Airport in the first quarter of next year. The facility will be conveniently located on Sir Reginald Ansett Drive, the main thoroughfare into Sydney’s domestic airport.

The new retail outlet will be highly visible when arriving at the airport and ideally located for travellers as they are positioned en-route to the airport terminals.

Mercedes-Benz Airport Express will cater to both service and sales customers. Mercedes owners who are travelling to the airport and dropping off their car for a service will enjoy a new level of customer service, the company claimed.
