Taiwanese travel retailers have reacted favourably to Ministry of Finance plans to increase the inbound duty-free alcohol liquor allowance from one litre to 1.5 litres.

The new regulation is expected to place in Q1 2025,

The change will benefit sales on arrival at Taiwan’s airports as well as those made to Taiwan-bound passengers by offshore airport retailers.

An Ever Rich Duty Free spokesperson told The Moodie Davitt Report: “Ever Rich maintains an optimistic outlook on Taiwan’s tourism development and has responded positively to this policy change, as it aligns with trends in international travel retail and offers greater convenience to travellers.”

A Tasa Meng executive called the plans “good news” but noted Taiwan has very low liquor tax (NT$2.5 per litre of distilled spirits per degree of alcohol content). ✈
