Tallink Grupp passenger numbers slip -2.2% in 2024

Tallink MyStar, which launched in late 2023, has been a strong retail performer among the fleet

ESTONIA. Cruise ferry company Tallink Grupp served 5.58 million passengers in 2024, a decline of -2.2% year-on-year. The group operates the Tallink and Silja Line brands and is also among the world’s leading maritime travel retailers as ranked by The Moodie Davitt Report.

Passenger numbers increased by +2.5% on the company’s Estonia-Finland route and by +8% on Estonia-Sweden routes compared to 2023, but decreased on Finland-Sweden routes by -15.4%.

Tallink Grupp CEO Paavo Nõgene said: “Considering the overall economic climate in which shipping companies had to operate in 2024, the additional requirements and taxes imposed by the EU, and the low consumer confidence across all our key markets, the year ultimately turned out satisfactorily.

“The new year offers moderate hope for economic recovery, which should also support a revival in trade. We continue to work with the aim of keeping some of our ships chartered out until our home markets have fully recovered from the crises. To our investors, we want to continue to pay dividends, maintaining our position as a stable and attractive dividend stock for investment.” 🛳️
