Incumbent retailer Tasa Meng this month began its newly awarded duty free liquor & tobacco concession at Kaohsiung International Airport in Taiwan.
The six-year contract, which began on 1 March, covers Tasa Meng’s existing positions in departures (two stores) and arrivals (one).
“In order not to disturb our business and ensure good customer service to international travellers, we will arrange renovation of the three existing locations at different stages,” Tasa Meng General Manager Gary Chau told The Moodie Davitt Report.
Kaohsiung International Airport’s passenger traffic recovery continues to be encouraging with volumes now exceeding 70% of pre-pandemic 2019 levels, Chau said.

The numbers are even more robust at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, where traffic has reached more than 80% of 2019 figures, he added.
“The government has announced different plans to attract more tourists, including business travellers, and total passenger numbers will exceed the 2019 level by the end of 2024,” Chau commented.
“We are currently renovating our shops to prepare for full recovery this year.” ✈
