The Collection puts the focus on high-end blended Scotch whisky from the Johnnie Walker portfolio |
TAIWAN. The country’s leading duty free retailer, Tasa Meng, unveiled a Johnnie Walker boutique called The Collection at Tao Yuan International Airport last month.
Under the same name Tasa Meng has also opened a Johnnie Walker Blue lounge catering to its VIP customers. The lounge offers free sampling of the whole Johnnie Walker portfolio, including a full “˜mentorship’ service allowing consumers to better understand Scotch whisky. “This is truly the first of its kind in Asia Pacific,” said the company.
Taiwan witnessed a double-digit growth in visitor arrivals in 2010, and a more than two-fold increase in arrivals from Mainland China. That momentum is set to continue this year and through 2012 when restrictions on mainland travellers are to be relaxed further.
Tasa Meng noted: “Taiwan is set to receive more and more tourists from Mainland China. These consumers have high spending power and it is imperative that a full mentorship programme on the super-deluxe category is conducted.”
