SAUDI ARABIA. The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia is looking for qualified operators to run duty free and duty paid retail at the extended King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia’s busiest airport is currently in the midst of a major redevelopment project, which will ultimately see it become a major regional hub. The first phase bringing the airport’s annual capacity up to 30 million passengers has been completed, with the new airport soft opening this year. Phase two bringing the airport’s annual capacity up to 43 million will be completed in 2025. The final phase will bring the capacity up to 80 million and is due to be completed by 2035.
The airport authority has now released a request for proposals for the contract to operate 5,000sq m of duty free and 1,000sq m of duty paid retail at the airport on a seven-year contract covering the redeveloped airport’s first phase of operations. The contract covers duty free in International Departures and International Arrivals and duty paid in Domestic Departures; it excludes the provision of any duty free and duty paid in the airport’s existing North, South and Hajj terminals.
Companies interested in the request for proposals will need to email cot1@kaia.gov.sa with the subject “Duty Free Establishment, Operation, Management and, Maintenance Concession” or ”Duty Paid Establishment, Operation, Management and, Maintenance Concession” and the following information:
- Registered name of the company
- Certificate of commercial registration (stamped and accredited by the Saudi Embassy)
- Financially audited report
- The name of an authorised representative
- Contact number
All interested parties must express their interest by 25 July and the deadline for submitting qualification documents is 1 August. Bids will then be assessed 60% on technical merits and 40% on financial offer.
