Tequila Corralejo and Delhi Duty Free in social media drive

Tequila Corralejo has been running its Margarita Challenge for mixologists in India over the past two months, with Delhi Duty Free Services as travel retail partner.

The third edition of the competition has run from March through May in association with celebrity sommelier Magandeep Singh and India brand representative Two Friends. It gives bar staff the chance to win the title of Corraleja Tequila “˜Teqnician’. Delhi Duty Free supported the event with a social media drive earlier in May, and was also the duty free partner in previous years of the event. Delhi Duty Free has 200,000 Facebook friends, offering a broad audience of followers for the brand to engage with.

The winning “˜Teqnician’ will be invited to visit the Corralejo distillery in Mexico, and will have their recipe featured in the Corralejo Margarita Collection. The book was launched at the recent TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore.

Delhi Duty Free CEO Duncan Lawley said: “We are happy to be associated with Corralejo, which is one of the most popular tequilas with our customers. The mixology challenge organised by the brand every year is a great gesture to develop and maintain consumer interest.”

Corralejo is the market leader in tequila at Delhi Duty Free, said Lawley, and white spirits are growing ahead of the liquor category (though from a small base).

Tequila Corralejo Marketing Director Asia Duty Free Sanil Manocha said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for connoisseurs of fine spirits to enjoy unique concoctions made from Corralejo 100% agave tequila – and for the winner to visit and experience the land of tequila: Mexico.”
