AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport has commenced the next stage of improvements at its T2 domestic terminal, including the addition of ten new retail tenancies.
The programme is designed to enhance the airport experience, the airport company said.
Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather commented: “We’ve had such fantastic feedback about our new T2 casual dining precinct and I look forward to seeing the terminal’s continued transformation as part of our commitment to enhance the customer experience.

“These improvements will deliver a consistent look and feel across the terminal, with a greater sense of space and light. Better wayfinding and improved sightlines will deliver a seamless passenger journey, while exciting new retail concepts and relaxing dwell areas will create more ambience.”
The new retail tenancies will deliver “a revitalised mix of lifestyle brands for visitors, enhancing value and choice”, Sydney Airport pledged.
Upgrades to key bathroom amenities across T2 will improve the quality, scale and finishes of the facilities to enhance the customer experience. A new mezzanine level will offer additional commercial floor space.
The next stage of retail and dwell area improvements was designed by Australian design firm Landini Associates and follows the revitalised T2 casual dining precinct.
T2’s new layout delivers what Sydney Airport called a warm and relaxing environment with increased seating capacity to cater for the millions of passengers who travel through the terminal – Australia’s busiest – each year. The precinct showcases several first-to-Australia offerings, including sushi brand YO! Sushi and popular Danish juice bar concept Joe & The Juice, Krispy Kreme and Soul Origin.

Customers are enjoying improved amenities, new seating options and connectivity with the introduction of smart device charging stations, complimenting the airport’s free Wi-Fi network.
Enhanced intuitive traffic flow features new navigation signage and updated flight information display screens to improve wayfinding. Google Maps of the terminal also allow customers to locate retail outlets, amenities and gates from the palm of their hand.
The next stage of works is due for completion by the end of 2018.
Note: The transformation of T2 is featured in a comprehensive ‘On Location’ supplement on Sydney Airport published with our October Print & Interactive Edition, out soon.
