INTERNATIONAL. Tax Free World Association (TFWA) will elect a new President on 13 December. The chosen candidate will succeed Erik Juul-Mortensen, who has confirmed he will not stand for the post again.
The President, voted for by the Management Committee, will have a one-year mandate to December 2025.
Members of the Management Committee who are planning to stand for election are requested to inform the TFWA Election Committee of their intent by Thursday 12 December. Any prospective candidates from outside the Management Committee are required to submit their candidacy no later than Friday 15 November, by recorded mail to the TFWA Election Committee, Tax Free World Association, 23-25 rue de Berri, 75008 Paris, France.
As reported, Vice President Corporate and Member Services (and Worldconnect Skross Managing Partner) Sam Gerber has put his name forward for the presidency.
Speaking during TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, Gerber paid tribute to Juul-Mortensen, and added: “I will stand for President not because I want this on my CV but having spoken to many on the Management Committee and our members, one thing is clear: they want change as well as continuity. I look forward to debate, to creating consensus and to looking to modernity while respecting the values of the past.
“What an association needs is evolution not revolution. It should be visionary but should take into account the great history and DNA that TFWA has.”
