The Borders Distillery to unveil William Kerr’s Borders Gin in Cannes

The Borders Distillery, based in Hawick, Scotland, has crafted its own gin: William Kerr’s Borders Gin. It will be unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Red Village, K17).

The new gin from The Borders Distillery is named after the botanist and explorer William Kerr.

The distillery, owned by The Three Stills Company, has named the 43% ABV gin after William Kerr, a Hawick-born botanist and nurseryman. In the 19th century he was commissioned to work at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, London. In 1804, he explored the Indian subcontinent and beyond. His work eventually brought 238 new plants and botanicals to the UK.

William Kerr’s Borders Gin blends 11 botanicals through a vapour infusion process using a specially-commissioned Carter Head still.

Its producer said that William Kerr’s Borders Gin “captures the essence of a delicate balance of botanicals from near and far”.

The Borders Distillery Co-founder Tim Carton said: “Unlike many gins we use our own spirit from beginning to end, resulting in a distinctive and delicious mouth-filling taste and texture.”

Gordon & MacPhail is working closely with The Three Stills Company to introduce William Kerr’s Borders Gin both in the UK on trade and across the retail sector.

The Three Stills Company Commercial Director Tony Roberts said: “We look forward to introducing Kerr’s Borders Gin to all our distributors around the world.”

On the palate: According to its producer, William Kerr’s Borders Gin gives an initial light malt fruitiness. Bright citrus notes of lemon and orange combine with the warming spice of coriander seeds and a subtle hint of liquorice.
