AUSTRALIA. Australia’s first franchised recycled shipping container coffee shops have opened at Brisbane Airport’s Domestic Terminal forecourt.
The Coffee Club, said to be Australia’s largest home grown café group, has opened two stores featuring sustainable green rooves which sprout shrubbery that convert conventional concrete rooms into environmentally friendly structures.
With customised interiors and covered outdoor seating for up to 60, the cafés offer The Coffee Club’s quick service coffee and take-away snacks and drinks and a variety of eat-in meals.
Brisbane Airport Corporation General Manager Airline and Retail Management Andrew Brodie said the new concept stores characterised the “fresh welcome” the airport was striving for.

Brisbane Airport’s collaboration with The Coffee Club includes stores at the International Terminal and Skygate, with a fifth outlet due to open at the new Brisbane Airport Service Centre mid-July.
The Coffee Club Director John Lazarou said the company was looking forward to expanding its network throughout Brisbane Airport. “The Coffee Club model is one that welcomes innovation which is why we are proud to announce these will be the first franchised shipping container coffee stores in Australia.
“We pride ourselves on providing our customers with good food, great service and excellent coffee and are looking forward to welcoming travellers to our two new shipping container stores,” Lazarou added.
The new airport Coffee Club stores will open daily from 5am to 10pm.
