MALAYSIA. Whyte & Mackay has teamed up with Malaysia Airports’ travel retail division, Eraman, to introduce The Dalmore Cask Curation Sherry Edition at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This edition is exclusively available through Eraman in Malaysia.
The whisky – first in a series spotlighting The Dalmore’s craftsmanship and the role of casks – highlights a collaboration with González Byass, renowned winemakers from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
The Sherry Edition includes three age-statement whiskies finished in González Byass casks: 26 Year Old, 28 Year Old and 43 Year Old.
The bottles are presented in a handcrafted leather-finish case, only 20 of which are available in travel retail.
The single malt Scotch category is key for Eraman and a driver of growth across travel retail, boosting average passenger spend and recruiting new shoppers.
The malt whisky sector saw +93% year-on-year growth in 2023 and is set for further expansion. Malt sales in the first quarter of 2024 are up +36% compared to 2023, driven by prestige and prestige-plus offerings.
The Dalmore – third-ranked luxury malt brand in travel retail according to IWSR – has outperformed the wider category with +115% growth year-on-year and +49% in the first quarter of 2024.
