US. The Estée Lauder Companies has named Thia Breen President, Estée Lauder Americas and Global Business Development – a new position.
The role gives Breen responsibility for the international business, financial control, and oversight of the new launch management function of the flagship Estée Lauder brand, in addition to her current oversight of the Americas business.
The position is effective immediately; Breen will report to John Demsey.
“Thia is the perfect partner,” commented The Estée Lauder Companies Group President John Demsey. “Our international business is critical to Estée Lauder’s growth moving forward and I am thrilled to extend Thia’s vast experience in sales, applied marketing and retailing to Asia and Europe. Thia’s promotion is a natural extension of her leadership of the Americas business over the last 18 months.”
Breen has spent the majority of her career at The Estée Lauder Companies, most recently serving as President, Americas, Estée Lauder since January 2005. She began her Estée Lauder Companies’ career in 1977, when she joined Clinique as an Account Executive in Los Angeles.
In 1985 she was named National Sales Manager, Aramis and in 1992 she was appointed the first National Sales Manager for Origins where, as a member of the founding team, she helped to establish the brand’s unique profile.
Breen returned to Clinique in 1996 as Senior Vice President, National Sales Manager, building a sales team that brought Clinique to the number one position in cosmetics in USA department store distribution. In 2001 she was named Senior Vice President, General Manager, Clinique North America.
Breen briefly left the company in 2002 and served as Senior Vice President, Cosmetics, Federated Merchandising Group, where she oversaw the Federated Department Store cosmetics business.
