The Glenlivet honours Taiwan whisky market with Taoyuan Airport exclusive

Pernod Ricard has honoured the “discerning and advanced” whisky market of Taiwan with the exclusive release of a new expression from The Glenlivet at Taoyuan International Airport.

The Glenlivet 14-year-old sherry cask expression, which will be a permanent exclusive for the airport, is available from Ever Rich Duty Free and Tasa Meng Duty Free for NT$1,450 (US$48).

The launch has been accompanied by tasting experiences in the Pillar Bar of Terminal 2, where travellers are introduced to the flavours of the whisky through food pairings, and promotional messaging throughout the airport.

Messaging in Taoyuan International Airport promotes the release of the new expression

“We’re thrilled to be launching the 14-year-old 100% sherry cask matured as an exclusive to travellers passing through Taoyuan Airport,” Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail Marketing Manager for Malts Laura Lung said.

“Taiwan is a lead market in the world of single malt and its consumers are discerning and advanced in their knowledge, so honouring this with an innovative and premium selection is very important to us.

“We hope to further intrigue, excite and educate single malt drinkers in Taiwan by quenching their thirst for knowledge and in turn increase their understanding of the quality and provenance of The Glenlivet range.”

The 14-year-old Scotch has been brought to maturity in hand-selected sherry casks to deliver rich notes with a layer of spiciness. Local whisky expert Steven Lin has appeared in videos on YouTube and Facebook talking viewers through the new expression.

“We are honoured that The Glenlivet has chosen to create this exclusive homage to the Taiwanese market,” he said. “The whisky community is growing exponentially and the appetite for single malt Scotch whiskies in our country has never been greater. I am sure that the rich sherry flavour and fruity profile that the sherry cask maturation process brings is sure to delight Taiwanese whisky experts and enthusiasts alike,” he said.
