SOUTH KOREA. The Grand Duty Free (Daegu Grand Duty Free) has been named as preferred bidder for the arrivals duty free concession at Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, according to local reports.
The tender was only open to small & medium enterprises (SMEs). Korea Airports Corporation named The Grand Duty Free ahead of Entas Duty Free as its preferred bidder for the 200sq m store.
As reported, the store has been under construction over recent months and all core duty free categories, including tobacco (a recent addition to the arrivals duty free offer), can be sold.
If The Grand Duty Free is approved for the five-year contract by Korea Customs Service, the retailer is expected to open the store before the end of 2020.
The Moodie Davitt Report has contacted The Grand Duty Free and Korea Airports Corporation for further comment.
