The Macallan unveils travel retail-exclusive Colour Collection with Moodie Davitt makeover

The Macallan is celebrating the launch of the travel retail-exclusive Colour Collection with a week-long homepage makeover of The Moodie Davitt Report.

The Macallan Colour Collection is a new range of exceptional whiskies exploring the brand’s commitment to delivering natural colour through maturation in sherry-seasoned casks. It is launching across key airports and selected duty free locations around the world from September.

The Macallan Colour Collection is made up of five age statement single malt Scotch whiskies. The range spans all the colours of the whisky spectrum showcasing the natural hues derived from maturation. It begins with the golden oak-toned 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old and 21 Year Old, all the way to the burnished chestnut of the 30 Year Old.

The Macallan Colour Collection comprises a 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old, 21 Year Old and 30 Year Old whisky featuring natural colouration due to its maturation in sherry-seasoned oak casks

Deepening in colour with age, the range showcases the natural tones derived from maturation in The Macallan’s sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

Natural colour and sherry seasoning are among The Macallan’s Six Pillars, which have been the foundation stones of The Macallan since 1824.

The Colour Collection features a new visual identity inspired by the distillery’s heritage and its spiritual home, The Macallan Estate. The designs were created by long-time The Macallan collaborator American illustrator/graphic artist David Carson and underline the brand’s connection to nature. Carson took inspiration from Jerez, where The Macallan’s sherry-seasoned oak casks are made.

The whisky company said the Macallan Colour Collection marks the return of age statement whiskies to The Macallan’s global travel retail offering.

The Colour Collection is being showcased via immersive art exhibitions running in London, Shanghai, Dubai, Singapore and LA

As reported, the global travel exclusive range was first previewed during TFWA Asia Pacific week in Singapore. A private event held at the Raffles Hotel provided a luxurious setting for the unveiling.

Edrington Global Travel Retail Regional Managing Director Jeremy Speirs commented: “Following many years of development, we are delighted to introduce The Macallan Colour Collection exclusively to global travel. In our relenting pursuit of uncompromised excellence, refining and redeveloping our offering to ensure it remains relevant to our shoppers, we are confident that we have achieved an extraordinary selection of whiskies with The Macallan Colour Collection.

“The Macallan Colour Collection is a visual representation of our acclaimed Six Pillars and allows travellers to explore our commitment to natural colour and the influence of sherry seasoning in a rich and compelling way.

The Colour Collection is crafted from predominantly sherry/American oak casks, which include a subtle touch of European oak. Commenting on the new range, The Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell said: “The Macallan Colour Collection is a visual celebration of our commitment to natural colour and sherry seasoning, with each of the five distinctive whiskies taking travellers through a compelling sensory journey of the remarkable spectrum of natural hues derived from maturation in The Macallan’s sherry-seasoned oak casks.
