The Moodie Davitt eZine: Beauty for all travellers – the Vincent Boinay interview

INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to The Moodie Davitt eZine – Travel Retail’s Lookbook. L’Oréal Group Managing Director for Travel Retail Worldwide Vincent Boinay’s recent appointment to the French beauty giant’s Executive Committee said much about the considerable regard with which he is held at the company.

The move also made an emphatic statement about the burgeoning importance of the travel retail channel, which soared past the €2 billion revenue mark last year. We met Boinay recently in Paris to discuss the group’s democratic vision of offering beauty for all travellers.

Elsewhere, we assess the repercussions for travel retail of the current political climate in Hong Kong in our Analysis section. Hong Kong International Airport this week posted its biggest year-on-year fall in passenger numbers for a single month in a decade, and there appear to be few signs of the political crisis and street protests easing.

This issue also features a special report on craft spirits as demand for artisanal products continues to grow, attracting new and returning customers in staggering numbers. We spoke to an array of retailers and brands.

In The Front Line, we highlight a remarkable video from Bangalore International Airport Ltd that tells the story of the previously-unsung Anushree, a Shift Lead at the acclaimed Hatti Kaapi food & beverage business.

A spooky exhibition in Denver is the focus of Airports as Artports while Sense of Place takes us to a summer festival at Hamad International in Qatar.
