SPAIN. The Puig group is preparing to unveil the long-anticipated debut women’s fragrance from Prada. The scent will be launched in selected US domestic doors and Prada boutiques from late summer. It will enter certain European markets, including Italy, Germany and the UK, before the end of the year.
“The first Prada fragrance will be launched in different waves,” Puig Asia Pacific Managing Director Patrick Bouchard told The Moodie Report. “And the roll-out will be selective. In many regions, the “˜main push’ will not be until 2005. For example, the fragrance will be introduced to Asia next March.”
He added that the travel retail roll-out would be simultaneous with the corresponding domestic market introductions.
Prada and Puig announced their partnership last May, via the formation of a 50:50 joint venture, as opposed to a licensing agreement. The joint venture, which has its headquarters in Barcelona, also acquired the Prada Skincare business from CID (Cosmetics International Division), described as a Prada Group-related company.
“We have been working on re-developing Prada Beauty [the skincare range],” Bouchard commented. “The collection has been reviewed and streamlined, and we have also re-assessed the price points. New products will be added in 2005.”
