Social media has emerged as a key unofficial source of information in the digital age. As The Moodie Davitt Report steps up its mission to become ‘the KOL of B2B travel retail publishing’ (a phrase coined by leading Chinese WeChat platform Globuy), our popular weekly feature curates some of the most exciting travel retail industry updates from the social media sphere – and touches on our own contributions.
This week on Instagram (and also on WeChat), airports, airlines, and retailers have implemented a number of precautions to ensure the safety of their employees and customers amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Malaysia Airports posted several updates on how the company is sanitising its facilities, educating local communities, and carrying out thermal screenings in all its airports.
Meanwhile, Jewel Changi Airport reassured travelling shoppers that it is closely monitoring the coronavirus situation; and that it has taken several precautionary measures to ensure that the spectacular Jewel facility will continue to be safe for guests and staff alike. This includes stepping up cleaning regimes and disinfection efforts, as well as the installation of sanitation stations in all concierge counters and in Canopy Park.
Changi Airport also shared that it has increased the number of hand sanitisers across its four terminals by +50%, in addition to ramping up the cleaning of its touchscreen panels. The hand sanitisers can be found in the departure and arrival immigration counters, on pillars, and in many other high-traffic locations.
Thai Airways also shared an informative video on how it is disinfecting aircrafts recently returned from China and other affected areas to prevent the spread of the disease.
Finally, we conclude this week’s roundup with a look at cdf Beauty’s WeChat account, where it shared a picture gallery detailing how the retailer is implementing various safety precautions in-store.
