Tiger Airways and Ink in targeted inflight advertising drive

UK/ASIA. Ink, a leading publisher of inflight magazines (and organiser of the annual Airline Retail Conference), has announced a partnership with Tiger Airways that enables advertisers to get targeted messages in front of more than half a million travellers in Asia a month.

By placing advertisements on print-at-home travel confirmation documents, companies can now target Tiger Airways passenger segments with specific, relevant and timely messages, Ink claimed. The move will be key to promoting ancillary travel services, travel retail and destination-specific offers, Ink said.

Companies can now advertise specific messages on print-at-home travel confirmation documents of Tiger Airways passengers, based on their airport of departure or their travel destination. Brands can also link up with airports and airport retailers to target Tiger Airways passengers with promotional offers from the time they book their journey and during the journey.

Tiger Airways is Ink’s first launch in Asia, but other airlines in Europe are already on board, the latest of which is Brussels Airlines. The initial interest from advertisers has been strong, Ink said.

“This is a breakthrough in terms of connecting companies with travellers,” said Ink Chief Executive Jeffrey O’Rourke. “Relevant advertising messages are delivered directly to each passenger with guaranteed exposure. This is a unique opportunity to extend the purchase of the ticket into purchasing travel related services while the passenger is still in planning mode.”

Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis said: “We are constantly looking for ways to offer low fares and greater value to our passengers. Ink’s Targeted Advertising (TAD) Platform gives us an innovative way to make highly relevant third party offers to passengers from the moment they are planning their trip to the journey itself. In fact, we will also employ the TAD platform to push some of our own offers to specific passenger segments.”

Ink’s TAD service is an integrated solution for dynamically generated advertising across a range of essential customer communications including: booking confirmation e-mails and PDFs; check-in e-mails; e-mail, PDF and mobile boarding passes; inflight entertainment (IFE) systems, boarding pass and travel document issue (paper or electronic) and online web interactions. Ink is currently deploying the revenue generating service with a range of its airline and rail customers around the world.
