JAPAN. Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) has revealed the line-up for most of the new retail spaces at its Terminal 1 landside Airport Mall.
NAA is contracting for 27 new shops, of which 22 will be present for the first time at an airport in Japan.
As reported, NAA is undertaking a full-scale refurbishment and adding +15% more retail space at the T1 Mall, leading up to a grand opening in early July.
The stores will open in stages, with the first three – Omise Parco, Cospa Akihabara and Stomp Stamp – to begin trading on 25 April.
Over May and June NAA will open 16 stores in the Airport Mall: Hello Kitty Japan, ABC-Mart, Travel Shop Gate, Cath Kidston, Russet, Urban Research, Smith, Override, Iwakura, Aspera café, Samantha & Chouette, and a gift and food outlet (operator to be announced).
Confirmed for July openings are Katakana Panda, Mame Gui, Gumori-e, Tabio on the Ground, Traveler’s Factory, 365 De Swati, Mëri Matka and A&F Country.

“As part of our effort to create an airport of customers’ choice, we are bringing together a diverse range of well-known and popular names offering their latest trend-setting and sought-after goods for Japanese travellers as well as overseas visitors,” an NAA spokesperson said.
“We want to make this airport not just a port but also the venue for a unique shopping experience.”
