EUROPE. Tony Michaelsen has been named Retail Manager at R&F Travel Retail, effective from 1 October.He has worked in senior leadership positions within Stena Line as well as in business development in the leisure business previously.
R&F Travel Retail Managing Director Jari Virtanen said: “Tony Michaelsen has a solid background [in] several international senior business development positions within Stena Line and as an entrepreneur. He is also a very experienced leader and has a strong commercial drive. We are very happy to have Tony in our team and look forward to see him develop our business.”
As reported, R&F Travel Retail last month opened a duty free shop in a 40-foot container in Holyhead, Wales, a key ferry port for sailings between the UK and Ireland. It plans to open another soon at Fishguard, another port serving ferry traffic further down the Welsh coast.
The Holyhead store will offer duty free shopping to travellers on Irish routes, now that the UK has left the European Union and become a third country. R&F said this means it can offer savings up to -60% off the UK High Street.
