Tortuga Rum Cake Company begins trading at Jamaica cruise pier

Tortuga Rum Cake Company has opened a new flagship retail store at the pier in Falmouth, Jamaica.

The first visitors to the store, which began trading on 18 July, came from Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Allure of the Seas, who were greeted with Tortuga Rum Cake samples, rum punch, fruit punch and the sounds of a local steel pan artist.

Said The Port Authority of Jamaica Vice President, Cruise Shipping and Marina Operations William Tatham: “We welcome the Tortuga Rum & Rum Cake store at the Falmouth Pier. They are an excellent example of a company that successfully provides an authentic Caribbean experience and promotes Jamaica and our entire region to the rest of the world.”

Tortuga International Chief Executive Officer Marcus Simmonds commented: “Through the hard work of our dedicated team who excelled in the planning and execution of this project, I am proud to see this new flagship location become a reality.

“Tortuga is pleased to be a part of the RCCL Falmouth project and look forward to providing customers and visitors with quality products in this comfortable and nostalgic shopping environment.”

Falmouth Pier is Jamaica’s busiest pier and was recognised internationally at Seatrade Europe as 2011 Port of the Year.
