USA. Fraport USA celebrated the communities and local cultures of Cleveland and Pittsburgh with a week of activities, live entertainment and promotions at the cities’ respective airports from 18 to 22 September.
Travellers at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) were invited to experience a sense of place and regional flavour of Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“Celebrate Cleveland and Discover Pittsburgh are our way of showcasing the rich culture of these cities,” said Fraport USA President and CEO Ben Zandi. “We are bringing a taste of each region’s celebrated cuisine and vibrant arts scene into the terminal to give travellers a sense of place before they even leave the airport.”
Special guests at the “Celebrate Cleveland” programme included Cleveland Indians’ mascot Slider, Professor Wylde’s travelling show from Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Singing Angels. Malley’s Chocolates and Mitchell’s Ice Cream offered travellers complimentary treats during the week.
Pittsburgh International Airport teamed up with Airmall Pittsburgh for the third annual “Discover Pittsburgh” week, also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the airport and its retail and dining programme.
PIT welcomed the Andy Warhol Museum, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Science Centre, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, The National Aviary and the Pittsburgh Zoo in addition to mascots Iceburgh, the Pirate Parrot, Mrs. T’s Pierogies, Ronald McDonald and the Chick-fil-A cow to the airport during the week. Samplings from local food & beverage brands were offered throughout the promotion at The Strip Market. Local artists and bands including Billy Price, LoveBettie and the Pittsburgh Mini CLO performed in the airport’s Centre Core.
Travellers were encouraged to share activities on social media using #CelebrateCleveland or #DiscoverPittsburgh.
