NEW ZEALAND. A number of retail businesses based at Auckland Airport have been acknowledged for their outstanding performance at the annual Auckland Airport Retail Excellence Awards.
The awards, now in its third year, are organised by Auckland Airport to recognise exceptional team players, performance and customer service at businesses based at the airport.
Fourteen awards were presented in a cocktail function held at the Novotel Auckland Airport (see below for the full list of winners).
The “˜2012 Retailer of the Year’ – the major award of the evening – was TravelPharm, a pharmacy based at the international terminal. It offers a range of over-the-counter pharmacy and healthcare items, a selection of travel-related products, as well as New Zealand health supplements and beauty products.

TravelPharm wins NZ$50,000 (US$41,340) worth of airport advertising, provided by Eye Corp as the main sponsor and Billboard Solutions and Omnigraphics as part sponsors.
Auckland Airport Acting General Manager Retail Paul Divers said the Retail Excellence Awards acknowledge the crucial role that airport retailers play in the perceptions of visitors to Auckland and New Zealand.
“Our airport retailers form an important part of the first and last impressions of Auckland and New Zealand for millions of international and domestic visitors,” Divers said.
“It is an important responsibility that retailers not only accept, but perform very well at. New Zealand is often regarded as one of the friendliest countries in the world and we cannot understate the role our retailers play in helping to maintain that image.”
