TRG Concessions opens two Scottish-themed bars at Glasgow Airport

BAA has embarked on a major upgrading project at Glasgow, designed to enhance the customer experience

UK. As part of airports operator BAA’s major investment programme at Glasgow Airport, TRG Concessions has opened two new bars in the Scottish location’s Departures lounge. The William Beardmore and Caledonia bars both offer a wide range of food and drinks and are designed to give a flavour of Scotland.

Earlier this year BAA announced its plan to invest over £9 million in improving the customer experience at Glasgow. The airport’s Commercial Director François Bourienne commented: “Over the course of the past 18 months we have invested millions of pounds in upgrading our facilities to deliver an improved service to customers, and both the Beardmore and Caledonia are welcome additions to the airport.

“In addition to providing customers with greater choice, the new bars have been designed in such a way that they offer spectacular views of the runway which will undoubtedly prove a big draw. It is great to have them opened in time for our busy summer season.”

The William Beardmore, named after the founder of the renowned Scottish engineering and ship-building group, is a classic bar-restaurant and offers a wide range of food including breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as children’s meals

Both bars were designed by Design Consultants CM. The William Beardmore, named after the founder of the renowned Scottish engineering and ship-building group, is a classic bar-restaurant and offers a wide range of food including breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as children’s meals. Traditional Scottish meals, including haggies, neeps and tatties, are also available.

Caledonia is a café-bar with a contemporary design that incorporates an “˜island’ bar with a counter fashioned from oak previously used in whisky barrels. The design also boasts other local materials including Bute fabric wools, Caithness slate and Bridge of Weir leather, with a natural colour palette of bracken, heather and stone.

Caledonia offers a wide selection of food and drinks including a range that travellers can take on board their flight, such as sandwiches, salads, yoghurt pots, crudités and dips.

TRG Concessions is part of The Restaurant Group.
