Tribute to the ‘sport of kings’ – Pernod Ricard launches Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition

The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition is available in limited quantities from May at selected specialist retailers worldwide

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has unveiled the limited-edition Royal Salute 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition. It is now available in key travel hubs including Singapore Changi, Incheon International, Dubai International and Taoyuan International airports.

The new expression is a tribute to the brand’s longstanding association with polo, dubbed the ‘sport of kings,’ and to the Blue City of Jodhpur in India, the birthplace of modern polo.

For this edition, Royal Salute has collaborated with its World Polo Ambassador and renowned polo player, Malcolm Borwick.

The liquid is a blend of malt whiskies which have been fully finished in virgin oak casks. It was crafted by the brand’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, who was inspired by the rich spices and flavours of India. It offers notes of sweet mangos and coconut, rich caramel and warming cinnamon cloves leading to a long and spicy finish.

It is housed in Royal Salute’s signature flagon, coloured in vibrant yellow that contrasts with the blue box. The design reflects a night in Jodhpur, with an Indian palace as the central focus overlooked by a large golden moon, stars, and the twinkling lights of the city.

Its flagon was made using coated glass as part of the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.  By 2025, it also targets to use fully recyclable, reusable or compostable bottles and outer boxes.

Commenting on the latest release, Hyslop said: “I always focus on telling the story of an expression when I am crafting a new release and so I was naturally drawn towards the iconic flavours of India when crafting the 21 Year Old Jodhpur Polo Edition.

“To honour these spices and aromas, I wanted this bespoke blend to have notes of sweet mango chutney and a spicy finish, to compliment the richness. With every sip, this expression transports you to the magic of Jodhpur.” ✈
