Tributes have poured in for André de Bausset, DFS Vice President Merchandising Europe, who passed away this month.
As reported, André, a man of immense integrity, intelligence, humility and a much-respected professional, had battled with cancer for some time. He leaves his wife Adéline and four children.
André had assumed his most recent role with DFS in August 2014, having earlier served the retailer as Vice President Merchandising, Cosmetics from September 2012. His earlier career included over three years as International Director with LVMH-owned Cognac house Hennessy and eight years as International Travel Retailing Director for Parfums Christian Dior.
Dufry CEO Julián Díaz led the tributes, noting: “With the untimely passing of André de Bausset, I am mourning a personal friend and a gentleman of the travel retail industry. Having had the honour of knowing him personally and counting him as a friend over many years, I will always remember him as a highly respected professional and loyal business partner, with a great sense of humour and guided by immense integrity.
“I have always been impressed by his deep understanding and instinctual feeling for the markets which earned him the high respect of our whole industry. My sincere condolences and thoughts are with his wife, his whole family as well as the DFS and LVMH management teams.”
Coty Senior Vice President Global Travel Retail Philippe Margueritte commented: “André was also a tremendous leader. His leadership was based on trust and respect of his people. He led by example, and his fight is now our fight.”
