Tumi makes executive decision on leather – 17/08/05

USA. Tumi, the travel accessories specialist, has introduced its first all-leather briefcase collection.

The range is aimed at international travellers “who appreciate fine design and luxurious, contemporary styling”, according to the firm. Available in two shades of leather, the seven-piece Formula T collection offers a complete range of shoulder and hand-held styles.

Design details include key lock polished stainless steel “T” closure, a detachable nylon strap with leather shoulder pad, contrast fabric lining, padded handles and moulded rubber feet on the bottom panels of the cases.

Timm Fenton, Tumi’s Vice President of Design, said the new collection demonstrated the company’s commitment to innovate through product design by incorporating non-traditional processes such as formed leather.

All of the styles come with a credit card-sized stainless steel temperature and international sizing conversion card. Retail prices range from US$250 for the Wedge men’s clutch to US$575 for the Turbo compartment brief with a fully padded laptop divider.

Tumi products are sold worldwide in Tumi stores, department stores and speciality shops.
