Ultramarine lands Iberworld inflight media deal – 10/03/09

UK. Inflight media and retail specialist Ultramarine Partnership Ltd has secured a three-year contract with Iberworld Airlines to produce and manage the Spanish charter carrier’s onboard magazine and duty free brochure.

The contract, which begins in May, will see Ultramarine taking full management and production control of the onboard magazine IBERWINGS, as well as that of the inflight Buy Onboard menu, available on all short-haul routes.

IBERWINGS is offered in multi-lingual format (Portuguese, Scandinavian and Spanish/English) to accommodate specific routes. It includes a dedicated inflight retail section and a comprehensive lifestyle and general interest section.

Ultramarine has appointed Michael Dennington as Iberworld’s Client Relations Manager.

Ultramarine Partnership Managing Director Max Williams said: “We are delighted to be awarded the Iberworld contract as they are such a progressive and forward thinking airline. This collaboration enables Ultramarine to develop an innovative and comprehensive onboard programme.

“Our experience and knowledge of inflight retail and media means we are well-positioned to advise on new revenue streams and enable Iberworld to make the very best of their inflight offer and improve customer satisfaction onboard.”

As part of the agreement, Ultramarine will be using its Travel Retail Integrated Promotions (TRIP) solution to develop the Iberworld offering.

“TRIP helps to identify new revenue streams with tailored marketing campaigns. The end result is increased brand awareness, increased traveller sales and overall added value to the customer’s journey,” Williams said.

Iberworld Airlines Passenger Services Manager Juan Jose Salgueiro Blasco added: “Ultramarine’s competence in producing inflight publications across editorial and inflight retail is well known. In addition, their willingness and approach to identify and deliver new revenue initiatives, such as TRIP, appealed to our business strategy. We regard Ultramarine as long-term partners rather than as a service provider.”

Ultramarine will be working closely with Iberworld’s inflight retail concessionaire Gebr Heinemann on the future development of the offer.

The launch issue of IBERWINGS is set for May 2009.
