AUSTRIA. Umdasch Shop-Concept has been honoured for the third time at the EuroShop Retail Awards for outstanding retail design.
This year’s winners, announced last week in New York, were projects at El Palacio de Hierro (Guadalajara, Mexico), Elord Golf Fashion (Seoul, South Korea) and Sport Bründl (Kaprun, Austria).
As the participating shopfitting company, Umdasch Shop-Concept played an important role in the execution of the Bründl project.
Following awards in 2008 (Globetrotter in Cologne) and 2009 (Nike-town, London) this is the third EuroShop RetailDesign Award in which Umdasch has been honoured.
The coveted awards for outstanding retail design are presented annually by the European Retail Institute (EHI) and EuroShop (Messe Düsseldorf). All three award-winners were judged by the distinguished international jury as being of equal merit, so that the prizes are identical in each case.
The award ceremony was held on 11 January 2010 in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York during the annual National Retail Federation conference.
The Bründl flagship store is located beside the valley station of the Kitzsteinhorn-Gletscherbahnen cable railway in Kaprun. It was designed by Blocher Blocher Partner and was largely fitted out by Umdasch Shop-Concept. The store features bold architecture, an authentic material mix and exciting product presentation.
Under the management of the brothers Christoph and Bernhard Bründl, the company currently operates 12 stores in the tourist resorts of Kaprun, Zell am See and Ischgl.
Christoph Bründl recently caused a sensation at the fashion retail congress in Düsseldorf with a lecture on his company’s philosophy. He will also lecture at the 34th Austrian Umdasch Shop-Concept-Forum on 19 April 2010 in Vienna.
The jury of the EuroShop RetailDesign Awards 2010 was made up of Preben Bailey (ISO), Dan Butler (Vice President National Retail Federation, Washington DC), Doris Evans (Editor, NZ Retail Magazine, Wellington, New Zealand), John Ryan (Retail Week, London) and Claudia Horbert and Ulrich Spaan (both EHI).
